For those who want to follow my school project, here is the link to the blog. I archive my research for this project on that blog. (Please note, my texts are in Dutch.)
To explain a little:
In this project called "Houtskoolbom" (Charcoalbomb) I'm looking for a visual language to share my finds.
The base of my research started with two movies. The first is a Tom & Jerry cartoon in which they constantly bomb each other with dynamite. The second movie is an educational video from 1951. This movie explains what to do by the threat of a bomb coming down.
By this method of archiving facts, other artists and stories, I want to find out which story I want to tell. Why we laugh at a suicide bunny of Andy Riley and why we think the goldfish in the blender of Marco Evaristti is pathetic and gruesome. Why I laugh at Tom&Jerry, but can't make a joke about explosives at the airport.
And I find myself asking the same question, what is real and what is fake?

This morning I went with my class to the studio of Theo Jansen. The creator of the Beach Beasts. We saw his preparations for next summer. His creations are getting more and more ingenious and smarter. This summer, we should definitely go see how the animals are moving across the beach.
